As part of Optimist International—a global network of clubs spanning Illinois, the United States, Canada, and beyond—we share a common mission of bringing out the best in kids and communities. Though our reach is international, the time, talents, and resources of the Delavan Optimists are invested 100% right here at home.

Membership Dues
Annual dues for the Optimist Club of Delavan are $85 for individuals or $170 for couples. These contributions help cover essential costs—including insurance, international and district dues, and administrative fees—ensuring our club runs smoothly and safely. More than just a fee, it’s an investment in a full year of friendship, fellowship, and meaningful service to our youth and community.

Community Projects
The Optimist Club’s Avenue of Flags is a patriotic fundraiser that decorates homes with American flags on national holidays. For an annual fee, volunteers place full-sized flags at participating locations on days like Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. The project fosters civic pride, honors veterans, and beautifies the community while raising money for youth programs, scholarships, and local initiatives. It’s a visible symbol of unity and service.
The Optimist Club’s Cruise Ins are a community car show featuring classic and specialty vehicles, music, food, and family fun. Held in a central location, it brings people together to celebrate automotive history while raising funds for youth programs and scholarships. It’s a festive blend of nostalgia, fellowship, and support for local kids.
The Optimist Club’s Mouse Races is a fast-paced, family-friendly fundraiser featuring live mouse races, playful betting, and community cheer. Attendees sponsor mice, place bets, and cheer them on as they race down custom tracks. The event includes food, prizes, and plenty of laughs, making it a unique blend of entertainment and philanthropy. Proceeds support youth programs, scholarships, and local initiatives, turning fun and furry excitement into meaningful community impact.
