Poster Contest
The Optimist Club of Delavan invites young artists in grades 3 through 6 to participate in its annual Poster Contest, designed to promote creative expression. Students will compete in two divisions: one for 3rd and 4th graders, and another for 5th and 6th graders. This contest offers a fun and meaningful opportunity for children to showcase their artistic talents and creativity.
To enter, students must create a poster that measures 14 inches by 22 inches (poster board will be provided by the club), which may be oriented either vertically or horizontally. All artwork must be original—computer-generated images, photographs, and magazine clippings are not permitted. Participants are encouraged to use bold, dark colors for visibility, with materials such as markers, paints, crayons, and colored paper. Each poster must prominently feature the slogan chosen for the contest, and the illustrations should clearly support this theme. Only one entry per student is allowed, and posters with moving parts or layered elements will be disqualified
Local winners will be selected from each division, with prizes awarded to the top entry. First-place winners will receive $50. These winners will be recognized for their creativity and effort, and the top entry from each division will advance to the district-level competition.
At the district level, the stakes rise with larger cash prizes: $125 for first place, $100 for second, and $75 for third. All district winners will also receive recognition and awards, celebrating their achievement and encouraging continued artistic growth. Through this contest, the Optimist Club of Delavan aims to inspire students to embrace expressing themselves through art, while fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment in their community.
